During each of the Magnus Charitable Trust’s 4-year scholarship programs the charity ensures that they maintain a bond of unity with all students and mentors as a matter of course.
In addition, MCT also enhances this collective spirit by putting on a celebratory event at the halfway stage of everyone’s degree (2-year mark), at which all the students and mentors can gather together to share their experiences of the first two years.
In this 2014 scholarship program the halfway stage was obviously 2016 and so in June 2016 the Trust took everyone to a major league White Sox baseball match and had the honor of having retired outfielder and first baseman, Dan Pasqua hosting the group.
Dan played with the Sox from 1988-1994 and holds one of the top 5 longest home runs in Chicago history. Mentors and students got to catch up, watch the game, enjoy a great lunch finished off with a mini-luxury dessert catered by Swirlz Cupcakes.
