Samaritan Award MCT From Persecution Project

The Samaritan Award was presented to Magnus Charitable Trust Chairwoman Maria Magnus by Mr Bradford L Phillips president and founder of Persecution Project Sudan.

The Samaritan Award was given on behalf of the people of Sudan, the long suffering Christian minority of Southern Sudan in the presence of their then leader of the Sudanese Peoples’ Liberation Movement (SPLM) & commander of the SPLA one Dr John Garang de Mabior (Edited: sadly deceased July 2005 in a suspicious & unsolved helicopter crash over the Uganda / Sudan border).

Maria Magnus executed a series of rapid humanitarian aid sorties in 2004 having also consistently donated funds to the Persecution Project prior to this regional visit. Maria along with her team of donors under the guidance of Persecution Project’s founding East African based president and chairman Mr Bradford L Phillips were also fortunate enough to be present at the 2005 peace talks & ultimate signing of a long awaited Peace Accord at Lake Naivasha Hotel, Lake Naivasha, Rift Valley, Kenya, East Africa.

The Samaritan Award is held particularly close to Chairwoman Maria Magnus’ heart in memory of her late husband Alexander B. Magnus’ earlier charitable work in the region.
